Does Rilassáre's alternative medicine replace traditional medicine?

No, alternative medicine is a complement to the treatments a patient may already be taking and is not contraindicated in any case due to its safety and lack of adverse reactions or side effects. Alternative medicine helps strengthen your immune system and regulates your body’s acidity for optimal functioning.

What are high triglycerides?

Triglycerides are a type of fat (lipids) found in your blood. When you eat, your body converts any calories it doesn't need to use right away into triglycerides. Triglycerides are stored in fat cells.

Symptoms of high triglycerides may include:

High triglyceride levels usually don’t cause symptoms. However, if the high levels are caused by a genetic condition, you may notice fat deposits under the skin.

Causes of high triglycerides

Factors that can raise your triglyceride levels include: regularly eating more calories than you burn, especially if you consume a lot of sugar, being overweight or obese, and smoking cigarettes.

Types of high triglycerides

  • Triolein: Glycerol esterified with 3 oleic acid fatty acids.
  • Tripalmitin: Glycerol esterified with 3 palmitic acid fatty acids.
  • Tristearin: Glycerol esterified with 3 stearic acid fatty acids.
  • Trimyristin: Glycerol esterified with 3 myristic acid fatty acids.

Diagnosis of high triglycerides

A simple blood test can reveal whether your triglyceride levels are within a healthy range:
Normal: less than 150 milligrams per deciliter (mg/dL), or less than 1.7 millimoles per liter (mmol/L)
Borderline: 150 to 199 mg/dL (1.8 to 2.2 mmol/L)
High: 200 to 499 mg/dL (2.3 to 5.6 mmol/L)

Treatments for high triglycerides

If you also have elevated triglycerides, your doctor may prescribe:
**Fibrates.** Medications like fenofibrate (TriCor, Fenoglide, and others) and gemfibrozil (Lopid) reduce the liver’s production of very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL) cholesterol and speed up the removal of triglycerides from the blood.

Complications of high triglycerides

High triglycerides can contribute to hardening of the arteries or thickening of the arterial walls (atherosclerosis), which increases the risk of stroke, heart attack, and heart disease.

Prevention of high triglycerides

  • Exercise regularly.
  • Avoid sugar and refined carbohydrates.
  • Lose weight.
  • Choose healthier fats.
  • Limit your alcohol intake.
